The West Jamaica Conference staff on Wednesday, August 29, 2018, during a Strategic Planning Retreat at the Holiday Inn took the time to express appreciation and well-wishes to Mrs. Millicent Sewell as she prepares to embark on her studies in Canada for three years, where she will pursue a degree in Human Resource Management.

Mrs. Sewell, who is also the wife of Pastor Rowan Sewell, has served the Conference for over 20 years as secretary, an administrative assistant and most recently as the human resource (HR) manager.

“Millicent Sewell has been a vital member of our workforce,” said Pastor Vincent Rose, the Human Resource Manager. “It has been a pleasure working with her. I have benefited greatly from her expertise and she is well loved by the staff at-large. She is a people person and her moving on, though temporary, is a significant loss to the West Jamaica Family. We hope that not too long from now, after she has finished her studies, better equipped to serve, she will return to us and continue her ministry.” He went on to express confidence in her abilities to excel in her academic pursuit.

Amidst tearful reactions to the announcement of her departure, co-workers of Millicent Sewell showered her with thoughts of success and affirmations of friendship as colleagues bade farewell.

“Millicent has been much more than a colleague, she has been a friend.” added Sis Winsome Bowers, a coworker and fellow shepherdess “As a colleague she was frank. We also had a spiritual bond as we would motivate each other” she added.

The Treasurer, Sis Marion Barrett-Popkin also affirmed Mrs. Sewell’s focused personality and hopes as well for her success.

“Over the years I have known Mrs. Sewell to be very focused in her ambitions. As far as I can remember, she has always had an interest in HR, that she is able to fulfill that dream I am very happy for her and wish her every success in her pursuits and that God will continue to abundantly bless her and her family” she ended.
