The Seventh-day Adventist Church, Irwin Heights, on Sabbath, June 22, 2019 became the newest church to be organized within West Jamaica Conference.

Five years after being established as a Sabbath School and then recognized as a Company, the small congregation of 33 members was formally organized by Pastor Donovan Williams, Executive Secretary of the West Jamaica Conference.

“The members of the Irwin heights church are extremely grateful to know, that what we have worked so hard for over the past five years have finally come to pass,” said Kimmardo Simmonds, who serves as the first elder of the newly established church. We are very thankful to God for what he has done through us. We are also thankful to the members of the community who have been very helpful in assisting with the construction of the church edifice,” ended Elder Simmonds

The organization of the church has been welcomed by its leaders and members and has provided an impetus for leadership to keep on moving and expanding.

“As a church we are going to be moving forward,” said Lelieth Hunter, the Sabbath School Superintendent “What we have started from 2014 we will continue to expand. Now that we are church we are going to work the work of Him that has sent us. Our goal is to be a church that win souls for Christ,” ended the excited church officer.

Members of the community were honoured during the service for their contribution to the building.
