A new Champion Church for the Parish of Hanover emerged during the 2018 staging of the West Jamaica Conference’s Health Walk/ Run Competition held on Sunday, July 1, 2018.

The Dias Church triumphed from a field of eleven Churches that registered for the competition. The event which took place in the Parish Capital Lucea, saw a total of one hundred and eight entrants ranging from ages five through to seventy-one. Only ninety-seven of those participants, however, completed the six-mile course.

Health Ministries Director of the Conference, Pastor Egnal Grant, was pleased with the day’s outcome. “We believe it was a wonderful programme and look forward to an even bigger event next year” he ended.

In addition to being crowned the Champion Church, the Dias District also emerged the “Champion District.” The Lucea Church placed second, followed by the Haughton Court Church who placed third.

The Health Walk/Run for the Parish of Hanover was one in the series of four walk/runs for the Conference. The Parish of Westmoreland is next in line to host their event on Sunday, July 7, 2018.
